iPad 2: production prepares for launch, early 2011

Several months before the launching of the iPad 2, Apple should start organizing production. And this seems to have already begun. According to information from Digitimes, several Asian manufacturers of components are currently validating their contracts.

This would include suppliers of touch screens and glass reinforced by 9.7 inches, which indicates that the screen size of the tablet should remain unchanged. Cando, Chimei Innolux, TPK, Touch Solutions and Wintek are part of the industrials cited by Digitimes.

According to the Taiwanese source of this information, Apple has planned to launch the iPad 2 during the first quarter of 2011. A timing that would fit with the habits of Apple since the iPad was announced on January 27.

The only certainty on this new iPad is that it should incorporate a front camera in order to support implementation FaceTime.
